António Morgado admitted there was little anyone could do once Remco Evenepoel launched his decisive move at Trofeo Serra de Tramuntana, as the Portuguese rider sprinted to second place behind the Belgian after another aggressive day of racing in Mallorca.
“I feel good, it was a good race, and it’s great. Today the weather was good, it was a good race, it was hard. But I feel good, and I did my best. Everybody knows that Remco is one of the strongest in the world, and he deserved to win; he was the strongest,” the Portuguese reflected.
The UAE Team Emirates - XRG rider was the best of the rest behind Evenepoel’s long-range solo, winning the sprint from the chasing group on the run in to the Santuari de Lluc after the Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe leader had already decided the race on the Coll de Sóller.

Morgado delivers again after Calvia triumph

Just two days after his victory at Trofeo Calvia, and one day after helping UAE to fourth in the Trofeo Ses Salines team time trial, Morgado once again proved decisive when the race split apart in the mountains.
As Evenepoel’s acceleration shattered the peloton, Morgado remained measured over the final ascent of the Coll de sa Batalla before asserting himself in the sprint against Christian Scaroni and Mathys Rondel to secure second place.
Behind them, teammate Felix Grossschartner crossed in sixth, while 19-year-old Adrià Pericas impressed from the early break and earned the combativity award after an attacking ride across the major climbs.

“Our team races for one thing, which is to win”

Looking ahead to the next day of racing in the Challenge Mallorca, Morgado made clear the mindset inside the UAE squad.
“I will race tomorrow if everything goes well, so we will see. With these big guys, it is hard to win, but you never know. Our team races for one thing, which is to win, so we will try.”
Evenepoel’s move proved untouchable on the day, but Morgado’s performance ensured his excellent start to 2026 continues, adding consistency to his Calvia success with another high-level ride against one of the sport’s very best.
