Olav Kooij has won the first stage of the Tour of Denmark. He beat Jasper Philipsen and Timothy Dupont to take the gold.
The breakaway included Adrian Banaszek, Rasmus Bøgh Wallin, Mads Østergaard Kristensen, Sebastian Nielsen and Eirik Lunder. The group maintained a lead till the final 30 kilometers, but soon the peloton caught up to them.
The peloton started the sprint early, a small crash also occurred in the final five kilometers. The final sprint was between Olav Kooij and Jasper Philipsen. Kooji won the race narrowly as Philipsen secured silver. Timothy Dupont finished in third place.
