Before the beginning of the summer, the rumours surrounding Raúl García Pierna claimed that the young Spanish rider was going to join Movistar Team, a team he would join at the beginning of the 2024 season. However, that information was losing strength over time as Arkéa Samsic was gaining ground to get his incorporation.
Last August 12 it was already advanced that the final choice of García Pierna was Arkéa, with whom he was supposed to sign a contract until 2026. Today, September 4, 2023, almost a month later, the team itself has confirmed the signing through its social networks.
"I am very happy to join Arkéa in 2024. It's a big step forward for me, as I will be joining a team that competes in the UCI WorldTour. This will allow me to grow sportingly, with a new calendar of competitions. I also believe that, as a team, we will achieve very good results," commented Raúl García Pierna through the official website of his next team.
"I have often crossed paths with Arkéa Samsic during races in Spain. I saw how they run and how they are organized. And that convinced me right away, as well as the sporting project presented to me by Emmanuel Hubert, the General Manager. I know I'm going to learn a lot from 2024 onwards. My goal is to continue to perform in the events that suit me. I'm a rider who likes time trials and stage races. I also think I'm a good climber, but I'll have to work on that to perfect it even more," concluded the 22-year-old Spaniard.
