"Nothing can be left to chance" - Tadej Pogacar's agent on the Slovenian's plans for 2024

In 2024, Tadej Pogacar will be hoping to return to Grand Tour winning ways after finishing runner-up at the last two editions of the Tour de France behind Jonas Vingegaard.

There remains a lot of uncertainty around the Slovenian's calendar for 2024 at the moment however, but as the UAE Team Emirates leader's agent Alex Carera of A&J All Sports tells OA Sport, there is still much to be decided between rider and team.

"For our runners it was a season full of satisfactions. Starting from the spearhead Tadej Pogacar who gave our agency, for the first time, the Tour of Flanders. He confirmed himself at Lombardia and got on the podium at the Tour de France after a lot of bad luck with the fall in Liège," says Carera of what was a successful 2023 for Pogacar despite the lack of a Grand Tour victory.

One of the big questions regarding Pogacar's 2024 is whether or not the Giro d'Italia will be on the cards. "At this moment no one can answer you, not even Tadej himself," answers Carera. "Mauro Giannetti will meet the top exponents of the team, who must be involved for the racing program of their top rider. He will return to Spain, he will talk about it with Tadej and in a few days it will be defined as one of the most important issues of his season. He will play a few more races in Italy than in 2023. Everything cannot be done, this sport must be analyzed in a scientific way, nothing can be left to chance."
