Romain Grégoire and
António Morgado have become
national championships over the past few minutes in France and Portugal respectively. As the afternoon advances, more and more top countries have their events finished, with new winners crowned and a meaningful win in France.
The three-stripe jersey will return to Groupama - FDJ, who have won the French race for the first time since 2023. After Rémi Cavagna
won the time trial event, Romain Grégoire capped off a dream week for the team, ahead of the Tour de France in which its leaders have also shown to have good form.
In a 225-kilometer long race, in a circuit and packed with explosive climbs, it was the resident puncheur Grégoire who took the victory and his first national title at elite level. He beat Paul Lapeira and Joris Delbove who joined him on the podium, from a group that also inlcuded the likes of Alex Baudin and Léo Bisiaux.

Despite the absence of João Almeida, UAE Team Emirates - XRG was in full control of the Portuguese men's elite race in the city of Guarda, with an equally difficult hilly circuit - only a smaller race with 181.5 kilometers. Against the Portuguese continental teams, the Emirati team had both Morgado and the Oliveira twins present in all the key moves.
In the end Morgado was able to defeat Afonso Silva of Tavfer - who put up a strong fight and took away the opportunity for the team to take all places on the podium. Rui Oliveira was third whilst his twin brother Ivo raced to fourth on the day.
This marks yet another national title for UAE Team Emirates - XRG, who have won the Swiss title with Jan Christen; and also time trial titles with Christen, Morgado, Felix Grossschartner and Nils Politt.
