"Morale is very good" - Tadej Pogacar enjoys rare quiet day on stage 7 of the Tour de France

After two electric days of racing in the Pyrenees, stage 7 of the 2023 Tour de France was a much calmer and quieter day of racing for the general classification riders.

As Tadej Pogacar admits in a post-stage interview though, the intense heat didn't make it an easy day. "It was a quite nice day until the last 50 kilometres when we started to go full gas and it got warmer and harder," explains the Slovenian. "But it was a pretty good day overall."

Jasper Philipsen was the winner once again, his third bunch sprint victory of the race. For Pogacar however, it was all about staying safe and avoiding incident, something he did successfully.

"The morale is very good. For sure we have a good chance [of getting a good GC result]. But there is still a long way to go until Paris," the UAE Team Emirates leader continues. "We need to keep our legs as they were yesterday."
