The
Tour of Slovenia ended with its final stage in Novo Mesto, Matej Mohorič took second place behind the stage winner
Tadej Pogacar.
The Slovenian had used the race as preparation for the Tour de France, however despite the good form he didn't manage to benefit from it. ”On the downhill, I didn’t want to take a risk, and later we came in the final together," Mohoric said in a post-race interview.
After responding to the attacks of Tadej Pogacar on the final climb of the day, he was in a good position to take the stage win: "I thought I might even win, but in the last meters, Tadej showed his strength in the sprint, and he deserves this win," he said.
He secured the 15th position in GC after stage 5 while teammate
Domen Novak was able to secure 3rd position behind UAE team duo Tadej Pogacar and
Rafal Majka, and looks in form for the Grand Boucle.
