EF Education - EasyPost's
Marijn van den Berg has taken victory on stage 2 of the 2025
La Route d'Occitanie, emerging quickest of the peloton in a bunch sprint.
A five man breakaway split from the peloton early on, but as the race entered the final 60km, they had already been cut to just four. With 30km to go though, the break, now down to just three riders, were still around two minutes clear of the main bunch and as such, could begin to have very realistic ambitions of a stage win.
As the peloton really started to ramp up the pace though, by 17km to go, that lead had been cut to just 30 seconds and by 15km to go, the break had been caught. From there, a sprint finish was all but guaranteed. In that sprint, Marijn van den Berg opened things up, and the
EF Education-EasyPost managed to hold on for the stage win ahead of
Dorian Godon.
