Illes Baleares Arabay Cycling reaches a new level and joins the UCI Continental level from 2024. The team, based in Baleares, will be led by Toni Vallcaneras as well as a certain Lluis Mas. The staff particularly wishes to rely on young riders from the island and initially, to ride mainly national races.
On this large Balearic island and more precisely in Mallorca, the cycling culture is firmly established. Between the year-round pleasant Mediterranean climate and the rugged playground, the Baleares are quite simply the world's premier destination for cycle touring.
The Spanish structure created in 2020 formalizes its registration in the UCI continental division as specified by the Spanish newspaper Ultima Hora. The team will be able to compete in certain races against Pro Team or even World Tour teams to continue its progress. It is the CEO of Arabay, Toni Vallcaneras, who has led this project from the beginning; he will take care of the logistical and financial aspect.
For the sporting part, the Mallorcan professional cyclist Lluis Mas will be in charge of the squad. Illes Balears Arabay Cycling will mainly be involved in the national circuit but also in certain Portuguese and French races. The structure of Illes Balears Arabay Cycling includes the UCI Continental team, as well as an Elite under 23 and a women's team. Particular emphasis is placed on the local training of riders from the Balearic Islands.
