Lennert Van Eetvelt and Florian Vermeersch to return to competition at Belgian Championships

There is a real chance that Lennert Van Eetvelt and Florian Vermeersch will soon return to competition at the upcoming National Championships. Both Lotto Dstny riders have been out of action for quite some time.

Van Eetvelt had an impressive entrance into 2024, but a returning knee problems stopped him from competing after Strade Bianche. His return was postponed several times, as his knee started to bother him again and he was also hit by car during training. The 22-year-old climber was hoping to return at Tour de Suisse, but that wasn't possible just yet.

The winner of the UAE Tour now seems to have recovered from his knee problems. If everything continues to go as desired, Van Eetvelt will pin on a jersey number again for the National Championships time trial in Binche next Thursday, according to Het Nieuwsblad .

There is also light at the end of the tunnel for his teammate Florian Vermeersch. The 25-year-old who is reportedly on his way to UAE Emirates - will return to the peloton next Sunday during the National Championships road race. He has been out of action for the past four months due to a broken femur suffered in a heavy fall in the Vuelta a Murcia.
