Lennard Kämna and Aleksandr Vlasov will begin as joint leaders of BORA - hansgrohe at the Giro d'Italia, with the road set to decide who will have full support in the final week.
According to Kamna, the team must have a clear goal in mind if they are to succeed. “The aim must be to finish on the podium. With one of us. But it will be very tough," says the German, former Giro d'Italia stage winner to Wielerflits. “I myself really go for the ranking, although I personally have no intention of saying that I want to finish in the top-3 or the top-5. But I do want to be there. I want to compete for the marbles and show myself within our classification team."

BORA come into the race this year as the defending champions of the race after Kamna and Vlasov's teammate Jai Hindley was the one to claim the Maglia Rosa in 2022. Vlasov is confident that together, he and Kamna can pose a threat to the pre-race favourites. “I trained hard. I've been at altitude and done good training blocks there. I have done a lot of work in recent months to race well now”, he says. “And I hope that my best form is yet to come.”
“It took some time for us to race really well together," Kamna adds. "But since Tirreno-Adriatico I feel like we got used to each other. The stage win and good performances in the Tour of the Alps are confirmation of the way we can play it. I hope we can continue that."
