"La Flèche Wallone is for true specialists" - Tiesj Benoot content with 7th placed finish

Jumbo-Visma's Tiesj Benoot came home in seventh place at the La Flèche Wallone, something he was more than content with and admits he now enters Liege-Bastogne-Liege full of confidence.

"I can be satisfied with this result. La Flèche Wallonne is for true specialists, so I can be proud to have been at the forefront," the 29-year-old Belgian revealed on Jumbo-Visma's official website following the conclusion of La Flèche Wallone. "With this result, I can look forward to Sunday's race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège with confidence."

Alongside Benoot's seventh-placed finish, teammate Attila Valter came home eleventh with Jumbo-Visma's sports director Frans Maassen satisfied by the result. "As a team, we are at peace with this result. We would never have signed for seventh and eleventh before, but given that we didn't have any real specialists at the start of this race."

"It is a respectable result," Maassen continues. "It also gives us confidence for Sunday and the next Monument on the programme, Liège-Bastogne-Liège."
