Julius van den Berg will stay at World Tour level: "I have now signed and am now covered, but I can't say more about it yet"

After five and a half years, the collaboration between Julius van den Berg and EF Education-EasyPost comes to an end. The Dutch cyclist immediately switched to the American team after his U23 title on the road in 2018.

Van den Berg tells his story to WielerFlits from China, where he is for the Gree-Tour of Guangxi. It is his last race with his current team. "I was not immediately renewed at EF Education-EasyPost. From that moment on I started looking for something new. I soon received a very nice offer and I was really looking forward to accepting it. I have now signed and am now covered, but I can't say more about it yet. On the other hand, it's a shame, because I really enjoyed my time at EF. It was a really wonderful time."

"The market was certainly special this year, with all the merger teams that did and did not go ahead. With a number of teams stopping. Then there may suddenly be many riders on the street. It is therefore a bit more difficult for guys like me to earn a contract. If you do get an offer, that will only be better, of course. This step is also good for me. A new stimulus and a new environment. I'm really looking forward to that!"

Van den Berg hopes to end his period at EF Education-EasyPost in China next week with a good feeling. "It's nice to wave goodbye in a race like this. We are here with a nice group of riders, great staff. It will certainly be tough, but we are going to make it a good end. Very nice to be able to end this way."
