Jonas Vingegaard may have started the season off in scintillating style with overall victory at Gran Camino, winning every stage of the race in the process but according to Robert Wagner, a member of the Jumbo Visma team car there is more to come.
“Everyone is talking about the competition, that it is not strong and that there is no Pogačar. But in the end, super good riders are at the start here," Wagner told Wielerflits at Gran Camino. "The conclusion is that he is in super good shape."
"He is in good shape, we can tell by his data. He is not quite top yet, but towards Paris-Nice, it looks good. Stay healthy and then we will see where it ends,” he continued, before reflecting on Vingegaard's second of his three stage wins at the race.
“The goal was, and that's not rocket science, to get Jonas right to the bottom of the climb and then go for the win with him," he says. "Jonas clearly stated how he wanted it and that was the perfect plan. He is in good shape and today we got the confirmation.”
