Groupama - FDJ's Jake Stewart has emerged victorious from a bunch sprint finish on stage 1 of the 2023 Tour de l'Ain.
With just Mads Østergaard Kristensen of Leopard TOGT Pro Cycling forming a one-man breakaway after a crash had wiped out his two companions, the expected bunch sprint never really seemed in doubt. And he was caught with around 25km to go.
Despite multiple attacks by riders, it was a sprint finish. Proving to be quickest was Jake Stewart with the British rider taking the win.
