Isaac del Toro didn't seem to be affected at all by his defeat at Giro, where the overall victory slipped through his fingers on the final mountain stage. Without encountering any difficulties on Sunday afternoon, the 21-year-old secured the red jersey awarded to the champion of Tour of Austria, marking the 62nd victory of the season for UAE Team Emirates - XRG.
Speaking to UAE via an official team statement, Isaac del Toro assessed his great victory in Austria: "I'm very happy and excited because the team has done an incredible job all week. It's been crazy, and I can't be happier to have this crowd around me [at the finish] and all the support from the team," the Mexican began.
"I think the whole team was really good today. Florian has been third and all the other stages have been crazy for us. We can be proud of what we have done this week and very happy," added Isaac del Toro.

What's in store for Del Toro?

After his win at the Tour of Austria, Del Toro now has no race on his calendar. News is expected soon, but what seems certain is that the Mexican will not race the Vuelta a España, as UAE said after the Giro d'Italia. That signals that we can more than likely look forward to the 21-year-old's debut at the World Championships in the elite category after his 6th place in under-23 race last year.
