The
Vuelta a Asturias began today and with no surprise whatsoever,
UAE Team Emirates took control of the race. Mexican
Isaac Del Toro was the main favourite for the stage win and has not disappointed.
This comes as a result of the work set by the team throughout the day, followed by work on the final climb. Gonzalo Serano and José Manuel Díaz put on a mighty and dangerous effort, but in the final ascent Del Toro attacked with 5 kilometers to go and dropped the rest of the competition.
Teammate
Rafal Majka took advantage of the work done in the chasing group to sprint into his own gap and second place on the day. Eric Fagundez and Afonso Eulálio finished third and fourth on the day a few seconds after.
And 5 of the riders in top 10 are from Spain, so... It is a weak field, since the big boys avoid this event due to scheduling reasons
Mhm...
A field full of world tour riders!
Your point ?
Well a win is a win and good luck to Del Toro but it is a win against a very weak field so not unexpected.
But it was only a 2.1 race, what do you expect ?
I know it was a 2.1 so nothing but a Del Toro win because it was a weak field.
