Visma | Lease a Bike with Jonas Vingegaard. UAE Team Emirates with Tadej Pogacar. Which team is next to confirm their Tour de France lineup? It seems like the ball rolls over to INEOS Grenadiers.
At least that should be the case according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, which claims the British team's lineup is close to complete. Six names appear to be a certainty while the remaining two spots are to be filled out in next days.
So who's in? Well, it's not a big mystery as the team has been very transparent about their selection for Grande Boucle. INEOS won't enter the race with a clear leader, however it's clear it'll be between 2019 winnner Egan Bernal, 2018 winner Geraint Thomas, young Carlos Rodríguez and the ever-ambitious Tom Pidcock. The four potential leaders will be backed up by strong Laurens De Plus and experienced Michal Kwiatkowski.
However the battle for remaining spots appears to be open at the moment, with three candidates for just two tickets to Florence. The names in consideration are all-rounder Omar Fraile, rouleur Ben Turner and experienced mountain domestique Jonathan Castroviejo.
As a big fan of Pidcock since the ‘22 tour, it pains me to say- post TdF s2 just leave him at home you don’t need someone like that on the team. Get behind Rodriguez, bring Tarling who was super impressive at the Dauphine.
Carlos Rodriguez is the only real option. What a joke team they have turned into, 4 leaders the rest of the peleton are laughing out so loud.
This is just Cycling Updates opinion so don't belive every word you read. It's better to wait and see what INEOS have to say before you pass judgement
4 leaders- The first and last time in the history of cycling. G will collapse in the first week. Pidcock will collapse in the third week. Bernal will collapse in the TT. Carlos will be close to Top 5, Same results as last year
It won't reach Nice with 4 leaders though, it'll be no different to Jumbo with 3 leaders last year, all but one have to yield to the strongest or who has the time buffer within a podium finishing result.
