Ivan Sosa added one more victory to his achievement list as he secured the queen stage of the
Tour de Langkawi. He took the lead in the final kilometres and maintained it till the finish line to secure the stage.
Since it's his first victory after the Vuelta Asturias Julio Alvarez Mendo in May, Sosa is obviously very pleased. "It was a complicated season, and I wanted to finish the year here in a nice way. I didn't know the final climb. I was at the start of the Tour de Langkawi five years ago, but the climb was not on the program then. It was really leaden,” said the Movistar rider.
In addition to winning, he has also taken the lead in the overall standings. A 23-second gap separates him from the competition and with five stages left, defending the leaders' jersey is not going to be easy. "We rode very attentively and rode well together as a team. I was able to follow Carthy in the finale and still had something left in the final kilometre. I'm satisfied with my level of form and hope to have a shot at the overall victory,” concluded Sosa.
