Matteo Trentin, a former
European Championships winner, will be hoping to be in the mix once again today as the title will be decided in the Netherlands.
“I expect a fast race. There isn't much wind today, but it is always stressful. I expect a full race from the first local lap," the experienced Italian told Wielerfilts in a pre-race interview. The Italian team has the likes of Trentin himself and Filippo Ganna who can be considered viable threats but it's their rivals who Trentin is keen to cast an eye on.

“If the race turns into a sprint, Arnaud De Lie is the super favourite," he predicts. "Olav Kooij is a good pawn on behalf of the Netherlands and then of course you also have Wout van Aert, Christophe Laporte, Mads Pedersen... It's always the same names."
