"I will be married next week, this is a gift for my wife" - Giulio Ciccone dedicates Dauphiné to fiancee

After taking a brilliant stage victory on the final day of racing at the Critérium du Dauphiné, Giulio Ciccone dedicated the win to his fiancee, who he is set to wed next week.

"The last 500 meters was very long, but it was nice with all the people along the side and knowing that my lead was still big. I am very happy," said the Trek - Segafredo rider in his post-stage interview. "After I couldn't ride the Giro, I didn't cycle for ten days. At the start of this Dauphiné, I was certainly not 100 percent, but my condition improved during the week. I'm very happy to finish this week with a win."

The next race on the calendar for Ciccone is a big one, the upcoming Tour de France. Before that however, there is something even bigger. "I will be married next week, this is a gift for my wife," says the Italian with a beaming smile. Ciccone held off the challenge of the overall winner of the race, Jonas Vingegaard who was chasing hard behind on the final climb.
