"I was surprised by the legs I had" - Simon Carr happy to end tough week of racing with a stage win at the Tour of the Alps

EF Education-EasyPost finished the 2023 Tour of the Alps in spectacular style with a stage win through Simon Carr with Georg Steinhauser coming home in second. After a hard week of racing, Carr has expressed his delight.

“I spent more time in the break than in the peloton this week," the 24-year-old Brit laughed in his post-race interview. “That's why I was already quite tired this morning before the start of this stage. When we were on the road, I was surprised by the legs I had. I am very happy to finish it here."

Alongside the one-two finish on the day, teammate Hugh Carthy also secured his spot on the podium of the overall race behind the eventual winner Tao Geoghegan Hart to round off a successful week for EF Education-EasyPost.

“This morning the team thought that we would have a good chance of winning the stage if we were with several riders," Carr reviews. "We succeeded because Georg Steinhauser was also very strong today. He was also in the first break”
