Having already added victories at both Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Dwars door Vlaanderen to her palmarès this season,
Marianne Vos will be looking to add another race to her long list of wins this weekend, as she will be leading the line for Team Visma | Lease a Bike at
Paris-Roubaix Femmes on Saturday.
At the Ronde van Vlaanderen last weekend, Vos finished best of the rest in fourth place behind the the leading group of Elisa Longo Borghini, Katarzyna Niewiadoma and Shirin van Anrooij, beating Lotte Kopecky in the sprint to the line to bring home the second group.
Speaking to her team ahead of this weekend’s race, Vos said “I look back on last Sunday with a good feeling. Fourth is not the result I was aiming for, but I am certainly not disappointed with the race I rode. I fought for victory for a long time. I had to admit defeat on the Paterberg”.
Looking ahead to Saturday, the Dutch rider went on to say that “there is something heroic about Paris-Roubaix. From the first edition, it immediately became one of the highlights of our calendar”.
When asked if she preferred the Flemish cobbles to those that she will face at the Hell of the North, Vos replied “no, I can't choose between them. Both are unique in their way and the ultimate to race on. They each have their own beauty”.
On her strategy for Paris-Roubaix, Vos stated that “you know it will be challenging, and the odds have to be in your favour. Some things are under your control, some are not. The only thing you can do is to be as fit as possible and try to stay out of trouble. You have to be ready for whatever comes your way”.
