In just his third race day back at the 2024 Criterium du Dauphine, Primoz Roglic was again caught up in a crash early on in the stage. Thankfully, the damage wasn't too bad and eventually the BORA - hansgrohe leader crossed the line in 10th.
"It was just a hard start and then yeah, I just missed the road. I went a bit off the road," the Slovenian describes of his crash, which happened before any TV cameras were even rolling at the start of the day, in his post-stage interview. "The worst of it is I don't have really much of a suit anymore! No pain? Not really but we'll see tomorrow and in the coming days."
As mentioned, after the early crash, Roglic was able to get back on his bike and back into the mix at the front of the peloton without much of an issue. "I was a nice finish actually, but I was just missing a bit at the end," Roglic, who wasn't able to match his 2nd place from stage 2's punchy finale, reflects honestly. "There's still quite some stages to go."
"It was a fast finish and I think yeah, a high level from everyone. But it's nice to see with the guys that we are up there," the BORA - hansgrohe leader continues, before previewing the upcoming individual time-trial which could split the general classification open a bit wider. "Tomorrow it'll be nice to change bikes and yeah, we'll see. It will be a super good test now with a longer time-trial, something I didn't really get to do yet. We'll have to see how it goes."
Two stages down, Roglic sits fourth in the general classification. With a good time-trial performance tomorrow however, it's possible we could see the Slovenian moving into the Maillot Jaune.
