Louis Barré brought about most of the bright moments in 2025 for Intermarché - Wanty. The Belgian team is nevertheless ambitious to succeed at the Tour de France with defending Maillot Vert winner Biniam Girmay in sprints and Barré will get his chance in pretty much all the remaining stages.
Speaking to Cyclism'Actu before the race begins, Barré made it clear that he's foremost looking forward to racing his home Grand Tour. "We are in France and at the same time close to Belgium so there is bound to be a good atmosphere for the team on this presentation, really a lot of people, it's nice. I hope that my first Tour de France will be good, it is bound to be a very nice discovery, I really want to start this Tour."
Between the two leaders, the roles are clearly distributed within the team: "For Biniam Girmay, it will be the sprints but for me it will be more the hilly and mountainous stages in breakaways, especially in Normandy where there are very difficult stages for the punchers and then in the mid-mountain and high mountains."
The Grand Départ can be often extremely hectic and the 2025 edition will be no different in that regard with no high mountains in the first week. "There is bound to be a little apprehension but no stress," Barré sounds calm before his first Tour de France. "I just can't wait to be there and see what I can do over these three weeks."
