Lennard Kämna will once again attempt a general classification at the Giro d'Italia in 2024. After a top-10 finish in 2023, the German is keen to impress in a leadership role once again.
"The plan is actually the same as last year. I will start again as second leader, Daniel Martínez will be the first leader," explains the 27-year-old, three-time Grand Tour stage winner from a press day at the BORA - hansgrohe team training camp in Mallorca. "I believe that it's a route that suits me well."
In recent years, Kämna has been seen more as a stage hunter and breakaway expert. In his first general classification attempt at last year's Giro however, the German took a creditable 9th place overall. "I want to be able to help shape the race. If it ends up being fifth, and I was fully involved, I'm happy. And if it's seventh, eighth, ninth, and I was fully involved, I'm happy too," he says.
