"I am very happy that I was able to finish, I am thrilled with this start” -Marianne Vos on her stage victory in Tour of Scandinavia

Marianne Vos won the first stage of the Tour of Scandinavia. She sprinted towards the finish line and beat Megan Jastrab to secure the gold.

"I am thrilled with this start”, said Vos. She continues, "It was pretty nervous, already on the road but especially in the final when everyone wants to be there. We tried to stay together with the team, and I got a perfect last lead-out from Linda Riedmann. She dropped me off in the Trek-Segafredo train. From there, I launched my sprint. It was already hard, so it was hard to go harder. I am very happy that I was able to finish."

Vos was quick to respond to Demi Vollering’s attack in the final kilometer. "I saw Demi and also Floortje Mackaij go, and when that two ride away, they are very dangerous. I knew I had to catch them back. I tried to cross and then the team tried to control," concluded Vos. She will start the second stage with yellow jersey.
