The first two names in the results of this year's
Tour de France are as expected, not many would dare to predict a former biathlete to round of the podium. But
Florian Lipowitz surpassed all more experienced GC riders, including five-time Grand Tour winner Primoz Roglic - his teammate and original leader of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. And while in the era of extremely talented youngsters the white jersey lost a bit of its glance, Lipowitz can be proud about winning the sub-competition with robust roll of honour.
"I don't know Florian Lipowitz personally, but I do like his riding style,"
Andy Schleck told
WielerFlits about the current white jersey. "He's simply a very talented rider."
The Luxembourger then looked back at origins of Lipowitz who only rode his first bike race five years ago. And now he's on a Grand Tour podium. "He comes from cross-country skiing and biathlon, so he has the genes. But the way he rides now... He rides like someone who's been on the bike for 15 years."
