The
Giro d'Italia 2024 is close to having it's route fully decided. A lot of work on the final details is currently under way, and some information are reported towards the details of the route.
One is that the finale should be in Rome. That is to no surprise, the nation's capital has frequently hosted the final stage, regularly a bunch sprint, and after the success of this year with Mark Cavendish taking a very emotional win, the race organizers hope to replicate the same type of emotions for the 2024 edition.
The Grande Partenza will be taking place not too far away, in Turin close to the western border of the country, not far from Milano. That has already recently been the case, the Giro had it's start in the same city back in 2021 with an individual time-trial where Filippo Ganna took the first pink jersey.
This is reported by Il Messaggero Veneto, a source that not only informs of both start and finish to the race, but also details on one of the mountain stages. The outlet reports that there will be a summit finish in Sappada in the Dolomites, where in 2018 Simon Yates took a glorious stage win in pink. The route will be officially announced on the 13th of October, already less than a month away.
