Every year the Giro dell'Emilia delivers immense spectacle and over the past years, more and more star-studded fields. Between the World Championships and Il Lombardia there will be one race that will have one of the very best startlists of the entire year: Giro dell'Emilia featuring among others Tadej Pogacar, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel.
The trio will meet up for the first time since the Tour de France at this Sunday's World Championships road race, where all three will be contenders for the rainbow jersey in a difficult route in Zurich. After the events in Switzerland this week, many will turn their attention towards Il Lombardia - the final monument of the season that packs no less then 5000 meters of climbing. All three are announced by the organizers to be part of the race.
The Italian one-day race is not a World Tour event, but is often used as preparation for Lombardia. It features several ascents of the San Luca climb, where the climbers every year make the difference. Over the past two years Tadej Pogacar finished second, beaten by Primoz Roglic - a three-time winner - last year and by Enric Mas back in 2022.
The climb to San Luca was used at the Tour de France this year on stage 2 where the GC fight erupted. We have got more stars virtually confirmed to take part in the race including Enric Mas, Nairo Quintana, Richard Carapaz, Pello Bilbao, Antonio Tiberi, Julian Alaphilippe, João Almeida, Adam Yates, Juan Ayuso, Michael Woods, Tom Pidcock, David Gaudu, Simon Yates and Matteo Jorgenson.
