GC update Vuelta a Espana 2025 stage 14 - Vingegaard extends lead on Almeida; Hindley attacks Pidcock's podium; GC over for Bernal and Ciccone

The 14th stage of the Vuelta a Espana didn't see too much action, mostly because of the wind, but it has still done some damage in the fight for the overall classification. UAE Team Emirates - XRG was able to win yet another mountain stage - having won 7 out of 14 stages thus far this Vuelta - but in the overall classification João Almeida was unable to put in damage on Jonas Vingegaard.

UAE tried to put on the pressure, even if at a certain point the team's work seemed to be directly bringing down Marc Soler's chances of winning. The intention was to carry on the momentum and attack Jonas Vingegaard as on the Alto de l'Angliru, but there were no legs for that. The two crossed the finish line together after following the attack of Jai Hindley in the final kilometer, but in the final sprint Vingegaard won 2 bonus seconds over the Portuguese.

In the battle for the podium Hindley won 5 seconds on Felix Gall and 10 on Tom Pidcock, small differences but with this fight also being held by seconds currently, it could have an impact on the outcome of the race. The GC riders mostly arrived together, with the pace of Felix Grossschartner and Giulio Pellizzari guiding them up most of La Farrapona. The Top7 remains the same whilst Sepp Kuss climbed the positions of Torstein Traeen and Giulio Ciccone to enter the Top10. Traeen is 9th and it's Matteo Jorgenson who has climbed back into 10th position, followed by Harold Tejada and Bruno Armirail. Giulio Ciccone and Egan Bernal each lost a significant amount of time and have falle out of GC contention.
