Reports of Filippo Ganna's potential move from Netcompany INEOS to Lidl-Trek are continuing to gather momentum as the latest update claims that the German team are confident they can seal the deal this transfer window.
Despite having a contract with British team INEOS through 2027, the former time trial world champion could well leave the team a year earlier in what would be one of the biggest transfers this winter.
The 30-year-old time trial and classics specialist is one of INEOS's highest-profile riders, with an exit from the team set to be a blow for the team, who have already confirmed the departures of Bob Jungels and Ben Swift to retirement while AJ August, Artem Schmidt, Ben Turner and Victor Langelotti are all leaving the squad.
Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Ciro Scognamiglio initially reported that Ganna could be set to leave INEOS this winter and join Lidl-Trek, one year earlier than his current contract ends.
Now, according to journalist Daniel Benson, Lidl-Trek are confident that they can reach an agreement with INEOS on a deal before the deadline of October 15th - where teams must submit their provisional roster for the 2027 season.

Ganna to Lidl-Trek transfer?

While the deal is reportedly '50-50', no agreement has been reached and both the rider and teams remain in discussions.
The potential move underlines Lidl-Trek ambitious transfer market activity in recent seasons, following Juan Ayuso's buyout arrival last winter and Andy Schleck's arrival as team boss, the squad are aiming to become the best team in the world.
They have signalled their intent in the transfer window, sealing several high-profile arrivals as Felix Gall, Jordi Meeus, Igor Arrieta, Greor Muhlberger and Jordan Jegat front their big arrivals so far.

Lidl-Trek's busy transfer window while INEOS have one confirmed arrival

For INEOS, their only confirmed 2027 arrival is Benjamin Noval - who arrives as junior time trial and road race World champion.
Ganna finished second in last month's World Championships time trial, finishing almost a minute behind four-in-a-row rainbow jersey winner Remco Evenepoel in Montreal. however, his form in the discipline remains strong.
Throughout his successful career, the Italian has also proven a vital Grand Tour rider at INEOS - taking ten Grand Tour stage wins and wins at races such as Tirreno Adriatico and Dwars door Vlaanderan among other high-profile races. He joined INEOS in 2019 and has become a fixture in the team over the past eight seasons.
