Fernando Barceló, on the rain in the opening time trial of the Vuelta a España: "We survived, it was complicated"

The Caja Rural - Seguras RGA team was the first to start the opening time trial of the Vuelta a Espana 2023. The rain that fell on Barcelona was the main protagonist of the route and Fernando Barceló commented his feelings with RTVE after the race:

"I think on our part we did very well, we survived because of how the terrain was. We are happy with this first stage." He acknowledged that the circumstances were very complicated and that they had taken it easy and not taken too many risks.

"It was very complicated, in fact even with caution the tires were losing grip, but we saved a great time and we finished very well. We are already thinking about tomorrow. If you find that it's raining you go a little more relaxed and try not to take any risks."
