Vuelta Budget
The Vuelta a España is almost here, and fantasy cycling fans have another challenge waiting for them. Alongside the main Fantasy Vuelta a España game, Zweeler has launched a Budget Game with $8,675 / €7,500 / £6,410 in guaranteed prizes, including $1,735 / €1,500 / £1,280 for the overall winner.
This time, simply picking all the biggest names isn't an option.
You have €260 million to build a starting line-up of 17 riders, plus a separate €55 million budget for five substitutes. That means identifying the favourites is only part of the challenge. Finding the underrated riders who can deliver big points for a relatively low price could ultimately decide the game.
The Fantasy Vuelta a España 2026 (Budget) starts on Saturday, 22 August at 16:17, with 46 General Classification prizes up for grabs.

The Vuelta favourites – but also the bargains

The biggest difference between the Budget Game and the regular Fantasy Vuelta a España game is simple: every million of your fantasy budget matters.
The leading General Classification contenders will naturally be tempting, but loading your team with expensive favourites can quickly leave you short of budget elsewhere.
That's where knowledge of the peloton becomes important.
Which lower-priced climber could finish inside the top 10? Which breakaway specialist could collect points across several stages? Which young rider is ready for a breakthrough? And which seemingly inexpensive selection could still be high in the General Classification after three weeks?
Finding those bargains allows you to spend more elsewhere and could make the difference between an average team and a winning one.

How does the Fantasy Vuelta a España 2026 (Budget) work?

Each team consists of 17 starting riders and five substitutes.
For your starting line-up, you have €260 million available. Your five substitutes have their own combined budget of €55 million.
Riders score points throughout the Vuelta, both in individual stages and for the General Classification, making the overall standings an important part of your strategy.
The game costs $29 / €25 / £21.35 per team and starts with $8,675 / €7,500 / £6,410 in guaranteed prizes. The overall winner receives $1,735 / €1,500 / £1,280, with 46 GC prizes in total.
That gives you:
  • 17 riders in your starting line-up
  • €260 million starting budget
  • 5 substitutes
  • €55 million substitute budget
  • $29 / €25 / £21.35 entry fee
  • $8,675 / €7,500 / £6,410 guaranteed prize pool
  • $1,735 / €1,500 / £1,280 first prize
  • 46 GC prizes

Five substitutes add another layer of strategy

With three weeks of racing ahead, crashes, illness and withdrawals can quickly change the complexion of the Vuelta. That's why your five substitutes can become extremely important.
When one of your starting riders does not start a stage, the first eligible substitute takes his place. The points already scored by the rider who drops out remain in your total, while the substitute starts scoring from the following stage.
If two substitutes have the same difference in value, the rider with the highest value gets priority. If both their value and the difference are identical, the rider positioned highest on your substitute list enters your team.
There is one particularly important rule to remember: a rider who is not on the start list when the game begins will not be replaced.
So make sure you check the final Vuelta start list before the deadline.

Can you build the best Vuelta team for €260 million?

That's ultimately the challenge.
Do you spend heavily on several of the biggest favourites and search for bargains to complete your squad? Or do you sacrifice one expensive superstar to create a stronger and more balanced team across all 17 positions?
With $8,675 / €7,500 / £6,410 in guaranteed prizes, $1,735 / €1,500 / £1,280 for the winner and three weeks of racing to score points, every selection can matter.
