At
Equipo Kern Pharma, controversy has erupted over one of its cyclists.
Francisco Galván will be sanctioned by the pharmaceutical squad after an unfortunate video of him that went viral. In it, the rider can be seen performing quite reckless maneuvers while training on the Rabassada road, between Barcelona and San Cugat del Vallés.
The maneuver in question shows Galván jumping from side to side of some separators that prevent overtaking in a continuous line and, therefore, invading an oncoming lane when not even a vehicle can use it to overtake.
Kern Pharma's response has not been long in coming. The Navarre team, in response to the dissemination of the video, has published an
official statement informing that Francisco Galván will be sanctioned.
"Equipo Kern Pharma expresses its indignation at the images broadcast of one of our cyclists in serious breach of road safety regulations," reads the statement in its opening lines.
"From Azcoro Sport, we deeply regret and apologize for an incident that does not reflect the values we stand for and want to project as a team."
"Equipo Kern Pharma reiterates its highest and firm commitment to safety on the road, both in and out of competition. Respect for road safety and traffic regulations are fundamental principles in this sport, which we promote both in our competitive activity and in our daily training work with cyclists."
"For this reason, Equipo Kern Pharma is taking disciplinary measures with the cyclist involved to ensure that attitudes and situations such as those that occurred are not repeated in the future. We assume our responsibility and will continue to work to reinforce the training and awareness of all our members in road safety," concludes the statement.
Will Galván be dismissed?
It should be remembered that Francisco Galván has a contract with Kern Pharma until the end of the 2026 season. He still has a little more than a year left on his contract with a pharmaceutical team that, on the other hand, has not said anything about whether it will terminate the cyclist or not. Could it be that he will not compete again until the end of his contract?
The images speak for themselves. Check out the video, below.
