The opening stage of the 2024
Giro d'Italia Women saw the peloton take on a 15.7 kilometre time-trial. The winner on the day and as a result, the first Maglia Rosa of the race, was Italy's own,
Elisa Longo Borghini.
Among the times of the notable names, Lotte Kopecky clocked 21:02 for her efforts, Juliette Labous
21:06, Antonia Niedermaier 21:25, Ruby Roseman-Gannon 21:28 and Letizia Borghesi 21:31 among others. In the end though, no one can match the time of
Lidl-Trek leader Elisa Longo Borghini, with the experienced Italian taking the win by a single second over
Grace Brown and 13 seconds from Brown's compatriot,
Brodie Chapman.
