Egan Bernal on his goals for the Tour Colombia 2024: "I want to empty myself completely and reach the finish line with the feeling of having given everything"

Egan Bernal faces the Tour Colombia 2024 as one of the great favourites to win the final, although he will have tough rivals like Richard Carapaz or Nairo Quintana. In an interview prior to the race, the Bogotá rider made it clear what his goal was for his home race:
"Super excited, the most important thing will be to enjoy, when you enjoy things go well, beyond winning or not, you know how it goes, everyone prepares for the same thing and winning only wins one. The motivation and desire are there, as I have already said several times I want to empty myself completely and get to the finish line with the feeling of having given everything."
It should be noted that INEOS Grenadiers does not participate as a team in the Tour Colombia 2.1 and that Bernal will ride with the colours of the Colombian national cycling team, something that surely gives him an extra motivation if possible:
"It is very exciting, I have not had the opportunity to ride for the national team many times, the last time was in 2017, about seven years already, it feels different, when yesterday they gave me the jersey, it feels different. As a Colombian you put a lot of passion when you defend the colors of the national team so we will try to do our best".
