Paul Lapeira has renewed with Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale until the 2027 season. The talented French puncheur thus secures his future in the French structure after a phenomenal 2024. He will make his debut this season at the Tour Down Under, which will be held from January 21-26 around Adelaide.

The 24-year-old cyclist, who has developed his entire career in the AG2R structure, signed a spectacular 2024 with victories in La Polynormande, the Cholet Agglo Tour, the Classic Loire Atlantique and, above all, a high level victory in the second stage of the last Itzulia and the French road race championship. He accumulates 5 wins as a professional, all of them in a past year in which he generated a lot of excitement in the French team, who ordinarily puts a lot of emphasis in classics specialists such as him.

He is the eighth rider to be signed all the way into 2027 for the French team, which includes also very talented young riders such as Paul Seixas, Johannes Staune-Mittet and Rasmus Sojberg Pedersen.

He commented the following after his renewal on the team's website: "It is a renewal that came naturally, without any doubt. I did all my training within the structure of the team and, with a good progression behind me, it encouraged me to continue in the same line. I am delighted to extend my contract for two more years, until 2027, which will bring my total time with the team to six years at the end of the contract. It's all starting to add up".

It is clear to him that he is in the ideal squad to continue to develop his cycling and that is why he has extended his contract: "I think I'm in the right place to continue to progress over the next three years and bring the best possible results to the team. I have confidence in the future of the team, and the vision of the 2028 project brings peace of mind. I would like to thank our partners, AG2R La Mondiale, which has supported us for many years, as well as Decathlon more recently, and Van Rysel, which provides us with state-of-the-art equipment."
