If Valentin Madouas, after a Critérium du Dauphiné below expectations, totally reassured by becoming French champion this Sunday, David Gaudu also made a very good impression during the Nationals. Although results might not show, Gaudu worked his soul for his teammates in Cassel, which allowed duo Madouas-Molard to take the double.
"I had a great day," declares Gaudu at the microphone of Eurosport. "I was buried several times, but we also got rid of many others. So strong I was. In the final, I told Valentin that I was doing one last pull and he said to me: 'go ahead, I'm very strong today.' For my part, I was just cooked at the end, but he is a champion and that's the main thing."
"It's a great sign, but it's still only French Championship. It's encouraging in any case," concludes Gaudu, who'll aim for Tour de France podium in July.
