UAE Team Emirates' Marc Hirschi has secured overall victory at the 2024 Czech Tour after a thrilling fourth and final stage this Sunday afternoon, climaxing with a finale in Šternberk as Julian Alaphilippe powered to the stage win.
Six riders got themselves into the day's early breakaway on the final stage, most notable of whom was Israel - Premier Tech's Itamar Einhorn. The strongest of the attackers however, proved to be Lukáš Kubiš of the Elkov - Kasper team, with the Slovakian last man standing of the breakaway. With 11km to go though, the Slovakian national champion was caught as well.
Heading into the finale, Julian Alaphilippe was the first of the big names to make a move. The Yellow Jersey wearing Marc Hirschi was straight on the back wheel. In the final few hundred metres they were caught, nevertheless, Alaphilippe led home Hirschi with Sergio Higuita a close third.
