Corbin Strong has won the first stage of the Tour of Britain. He overcame the harsh climb to cross the finish line first and secure the victory.
The breakaway included Martin Urianstad, Matthew Teggart, Jake Scott, Matthew Gibson, and Stephen Bassett. The group of five started with a lead of 3 minutes ahead of the peloton. The group increased the lead to over 4 minutes and 40 seconds before coming down to 1 minute and 35 seconds.
However, the peloton caught the breakaway just one kilometer before the finish. Corbin Strong surprised the peloton with a last-minute attack and took the victory. Omar Fraile managed to take silver while Anders Halland Johannessen finished third.
