Women's World Tour squad Canyon//SRAM has abruptly ended its partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto, citing clear breaches of contract by the company. However, despite the sudden mid-season shakeup, team management issued a press release reassuring fans that its long-term future ambitions remain completely secure.

Drawing a line and moving forward

The partnership with Zondacrypto began only one year ago, in 2025, but the process of removing it from the sport is already underway. The squad is currently updating its digital platforms, equipment, team kit, and formal UCI registration, with the entire transition expected to be finalized by August 1, 2026.
Both the top-tier squad and its developmental team will instantly pivot back to racing under their original names: Canyon//SRAM and Canyon//SRAM Generation.
Team manager Ronny Lauke made it clear that the organization followed strict protocols to sever the relationship and is fully prepared to look ahead. “We have respected all contractual obligations and legal procedures, but are now happy to draw a line and move forward,” Lauke said in an official statement. “Our focus is entirely on what comes next.”
"Over many years, we have built a strong organisation backed by visionary partners, experienced staff, and talented riders who all believe in what this team stands for," Lauke continued. "For more than 10 years, we have proven on the world’s biggest stages that the team is built to perform at the highest level and built to last. That gives us even greater confidence moving forward."

Mounting legal turmoil surrounds Zondacrypto

While the team did not explicitly outline the exact nature of the contract breaches, the split follows weeks of intensifying international scrutiny surrounding the cryptocurrency firm.
Reports across Polish media have raised massive red flags regarding Zondacrypto's financial solvency and legal standing. Polish authorities are currently investigating serious claims involving fraud and money laundering, while internal staff allege that Zondacrypto’s outstanding debts could exceed 500 million złoty (approximately €118 million).
Canyon//SRAM is not the first major cycling entity to quickly distance itself from Zondacrypto this season. Earlier this year in March, the organizers of the Tour de Suisse had proudly announced Zondacrypto as the official sponsor of their young rider classification, only to quietly eliminate the agreement with immediate effect a short time later, concluding that the partnership had proven entirely “unsustainable.”
