With three stages gone at Paris-Nice 2024, INEOS Grenadiers duo Egan Bernal and Carlos Rodriguez are sitting pretty in 10th and 11th, still very much in the battle for the Maillot Jaune.
“It’s good to have the two options for sure. Carlos is very strong, he was fifth in the Tour last year and we all know how talented he is," reflects Bernal after the stage 3 team time-trial where the INEOS Grenadiers finished 5th, 22 seconds down on stage winners, UAE Team Emirates. "I think to compete against Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel it’s better to have more cards to play. For sure we have to try something, and let’s see how the race is tomorrow."
With Bernal and Rodriguez 2 and 4 seconds behind Evenepoel in the general classification respectively, in turn 34 and 32 seconds ahead of Roglic, the INEOS Grenadiers duo are strongly placed ahead of the challenges to come.
“I think it was a good time trial. For sure we could improve in some things, but it is how it is. You can’t do everything perfect, but I’m super happy with how the team committed with our performance," added Rodriguez. "We look forward to the next days where we hope to take the battle to the other contenders.”
