Bryan Coquard was unable to sprint in the fourth Vuelta stage. The fast Frenchman was the victim of a crash just before the last four kilometers of the stage, which incidentally involved many Cofidis people.
After a dull Vuelta stage, the peloton was shocked by a massive crash four kilometers from the end. Wilco Kelderman, Santiago Buitrago and Kobe Goossens also carry some wounds from the crash.
The extent of the damage is unknown at this time. "I've broken my shoulder blade before, and I'm afraid there's some damage now," Coquard told Eurosport afterwards. I will spend tonight in hospital for some scans, it is not certain that you will see me again tomorrow."
