Bronchitis rules Benoit Cosnefroy out of Fleche Wallone

Sadly for the AG2R Citroen Team, Benoit Cosnefroy will be absent from the start line at La Fleche Wallone after suffering a bout of Bronchitis.

"Benoit Cosnefroy, suffering from bronchitis, will not start today," an official statement reveals on the AG2R Citroen Team's Twitter account. "His participation for Liege-Bastogne-Liege is still considered," the post concludes.

Medical staff at the team will be keeping a close eye on the Frenchman over the coming days. With Liege-Bastogne-Liege just four days away the race against time to get the 27-year-old back to full fitness will surely begin in earnest.

Cosnefroy had already complained just days ago about how his Amstel Gold Race suffered due to an illness that has now seemingly gotten worse. “I was sick in the Amstel Gold Race. My bronchi are still a bit clogged," he said. "But I hope I will recover enough to participate in the La Fleche Wallone on Wednesday,” he continued but sadly not.
