Biniam Girmay: "I'm super happy with my first race in two months, especially about the team performance. We controlled from the start, I attacked & then sprint to 4th place. Today was a good day." #BCC23
Racing for the first time since going down as part of the horrific crash at the Tour of Flanders, Biniam Girmay impressed, finishing 4th at the Brussels Cycling Classic.
"I'm super happy with my first race in two months, especially about the team performance," the 23-year-old Eritrean revealed post-race. "We controlled from the start, I attacked & then sprint to 4th place. Today was a good day."
The race was eventually won by the French sprinter Arnaud Demare as Girmay who opened up the sprint faded slightly in the final metres, perhaps due to his lack of racing over the last month.
Next up for Girmay is a trip to Switzerland as the Intermarché-Circus-Wanty star prepares for the Tour de France with tune-up races at Grosser Preis des Kantons Aargau and the Tour de Suisse.
