Ben Healy was one of the revelations of 2023, meaning that the Irishman will be marked by his opponents this year, not making his job any easier. However the 23-year-old is not afraid of the extra attention, as he aims to further improve in hilly classics and fight for the spot on Tour de France roster of EF Education-EasyPost, he tells Cyclingnews.
"I try to develop naturally every year. I proved myself last year, both within the team and in the peloton. I think I now have to take more responsibility and challenge myself more in the bigger competitions. The most important races in the first half of the season are in any case the Amstel Gold Race and the other Ardennes classics."
Healy, who will also appear at the start of Strade Bianche, hopes to make his debut in the Tour de France in the summer. However, the competition within his team is not bad. "My goal is to go to the Tour, but many guys in the team want that too. We'll see how it goes," he says.
