Astana's hunt for UCI points complicates with Cees Bol sidelined with fractured collarbone after a training crash

Cees Bol has broken his collarbone. The Dutch rider fell during a training at altitude training camp in Livigno. Bol will undergo surgery.

Bol's team, Astana Qazaqstan, announced on social media what was going on. "Unfortunately, Cees fell during training in Livigno, where he was on altitude training. He broke his right collarbone. Cees will return to the Netherlands and undergo surgery in Alkmaar," they said.

The Dutch sprinter, who has found himself in the classics recently, was preparing for the final push for UCI points in 2024, with many smaller races lined up on his schedule. However this injury will see Bol sidelined for some time now and he's mostly likely only going to return to a couple races in later parts of September and in October, if recovery goes well.
