Arne Marit ends season after a broken collarbone suffered at GP d'Isbergues

Don't look for Arne Marit in the results of the remaining races this year. The Belgian sprinter broke his collarbone on Sunday in the GP d'Isbergues and is ending his season. This was announced by his team Intermarché - Wanty.

Arne Marit has already successfully undergone surgery. For the 25-year-old Belgian, this brings an abrupt end to an annoying season. He started well with close places of honour in the GP Criquelion (6th) and stages in the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana (2nd) and the Volta a Catalunya (2nd), but broke his ankle in the Scheldeprijs in early April.

Marit made his comeback at the Tour de Suisse two months later and was also at the start of the Vuelta last month. In a Tour of Spain with few chances for sprinters, he finished 4th in the 3rd stage behind stage winner Wout van Aert, in the 5th stage he came 8th.
