Arnaud Demare skips French National Championships for first time in career

On the 25th of June, the French National Championships men's road race takes place. For the first time in his career, the former three-time winner of the race, Arnaud Demare will not be present.

A winner in 2014, 2017 and 2020, Demare recently suffered the double disappointment of being left out of Groupama-FDJ's Tour de France squad and being told that the team won't be renewing his contract when it expires at the end of the current season.

"Arnaud Démare will not start on Sunday, the team having acceded to his request to withdraw the French Championship from its program." Groupama - FDJ announced in a press release detailing all their riders respective National Championship races over the coming weekend.
